Episode 1- The Hokkien (福建人):
有人用一艘驳船养活了一家人,三代人都与海洋结下不解之缘,一脉相传。有人为了茶庄的延续,不断地去开拓茶叶更多的可能性。有人对酱油的品质严格把关,守护三代人的心血。有人坚持保留传统手作的温度,传承福建经典的老味道。勇于冒险、刻苦耐劳,就是福建人在新加坡最亮丽的一道风景。

Courage and tenacity are values synonymous with the Hokkien community – meet those who embody them.  A family with a connection to the ocean through the generations, having first carved a livelihood from a barge. A tea business that continually innovates, and a profile preserving his handcrafted soy sauce heritage.

Episode 2- The Teochew and Cantonese (潮州与广东人):
有人投入民俗文化拍摄,有人坚持手工制作传统供品。有人致力将传统菜式重新包装,把潮州饮食文化推高到了另一个层次。有人用画笔定格住流逝的岁月,有人沿着家族的味觉记忆,让更多人尝到了粤菜的精髓。勇于创新,锲而不舍,看本地潮州人和广东人如何奉献自己的力量,谱写属于他们的传奇故事。

How are the Teochew and Cantonese communities injecting new life to their cultures? Some aspire to elevate their cuisine by rethinking traditional dishes or recreating recipes from childhood.  Some use paintbrush strokes to capture moments in time.  Others express their culture through photography and artisan offerings.

Episode 3- The Hakka and Hainanese (客家和海南人):
有人借助科技,为传统典当行业注入新生命。有人希望从食物里追溯更多的祖籍文化。有人致力保留古早味,把客家美食推广给更多人。有人扛起传承的使命,发扬海南传统武术,也有人赶在籍贯文化消逝以前,把属于海南人的美好留住。他们沿着先辈的足迹,用截然不同的方式,在各自擅长的领域里贡献自己。

The new generations of Hakka and Hainanese are keeping their cultures vibrant while staying true to their pioneers’ spirit.Breathing new life into traditional pawn shops using technology.
