Episode 1- Cambodia:
柬埔寨内战结束已有30年,却还有许多人仍活在战争的创伤中,因地雷导致终生残疾。有人通过排雷自我救赎,并收养与救助孤儿。有人办学校为伤残儿童提供教育,还有人为截肢者制作义肢,默默地做他们隐形的守护者。
Though Cambodia’s civil war ended 30 years ago, victims who have lost their limbs to landmines reflect the lingering damage of the war. To rebuild peace among Cambodians, there is an active demeanour, one who adopts orphans as well as an invisible hero who makes prosthetic limbs for landmine victims.
Episode 2- Taiwan:
在台湾,病童、各种障别孩子和弱势家庭的孩子在社会中往往被忽略。所幸有各种不同组织,协助和照顾这些不幸的孩子,同时为孩子的看护者提供溫暖的避風港。一群爸爸组成的“罕爸合唱团”通过彼此扶持,一同练团和表演,获取力量再前进。
In Taiwan, children with mental and physical disabilities or even children from broken families are often overlooked in society. Fortunately, there are different organizations that provide these children not only a shelter but also a stage for them to shine.
Episode 3- Japan:
日本福井县的名胜地东寻坊,是一个“自杀圣地”。一名73岁的前警员,决定在东寻访守候并拯救企图自杀的人,十几年来他救了超过600个人。此外,有一家演员中介招募“前流氓”,让他们扮演流氓的角色,让他们获得一个重新融入社会的机会。
Fukui Prefecture is known as Japan’s suicidal cliffs. However, there is a 73-year-old retired policeman who guards the cliffs and saves anyone who attempts suicide, and has saved 600 people over the years. There is also a casting agency that recruits ex-gangsters, giving them a second chance at life.
Episode 4- Hong Kong:
香港虽然是一个繁荣的都市,城市里仍有很多露宿街头的流浪汉。在冷漠的城市里,有一名前护士给予露宿者医疗服务,也有一个社工为他们创立一个足球队,让原本病患和年长的露宿者找回生命的希望。
Despite Hong Kong being a prosperous city, there are many homeless people living on the streets. A former nurse and a passionate volunteer give these homeless people a new lease of life by helping them with their daily meals and medical needs.
Episode 5- Korea:
韩国社会繁华璀璨的外衣下,有一群被遗弃的韩国子民 – 无辜的新生儿,穷苦、残障以及遭受家暴的孩童,还有一群被忽视的独居老人。因为有一群守护者在关键的时刻提供避风港,适时送上温暖关怀。才得以让这群不幸的人,感受到情暖人间。
We discover how guardians in Korea are reaching out to a group of abandoned people, such as newborns, child abuse victims, and neglected elderly living alone. These guardians’ timely delivery of a safe haven and care provide renewed hope for the less fortunate.
Episode 6- Beijing, China:
中国是世界上第一人口大国,视障的人数庞大。对盲人而言,因为没有视力而被剥夺了生命当中选择的权利是最大的不幸。因此守护者所要守护的不仅是视障人士的生活需求,更是他们融入社会的希望。
China has a high percentage of visually-impaired people. For the blind, to be robbed of their vision and life opportunities is a tragedy. The guardians not only tend to the needs of the visually-impaired, they also help in their integration into society.
Episode 7- Pahang, Malaysia:
马拉西亚半岛原住民生活的一切都取之森林。如果失去丛林就等同于失去了根,他们甚至不知道该如何生活下去。然而,社会城市化却一步步侵蚀他们赖以为生的自然资源,他们的生活日趋贫困。或许他们是被社会遗忘的一群,却有一群守护者,奔波与城市和雨林之间,努力守住原住民的权力 ,扭转他们的命运。
The forest is the home of the Aboriginal people in the Malaysia Peninsula. Social urbanization is however eroding natural resources, threatening their livelihood and roots. But there is a group of guardians who are shuttling between the city and the rainforest, to help these Aboriginals.
Episode 8- Sulu Island, Philippines:
菲律宾南部的苏鲁群岛是穆斯林恐怖组织的大本营。当地孩童常被招募成为少年兵。为了改变岛民的命运,菲律宾海军陆战队成立“和平足球队”,藉由足球,让孩子远离枪支。同时凝聚全国志工提供医疗教育等服务,为岛民送上暖暖的关爱。
The Sulu Islands in Southern Philippines are a stronghold of Muslim terrorist groups. Local children are often recruited as juvenile soldiers. The Philippine Marines has set up a “Peace football team,” to keep children away from guns. Volunteers also help provide welfare services for the islanders.
Episode 9- Vietnam:
越南俗语说,完整的树叶有责任保护破碎的树叶。胡志明市有着一群经济拮据的人,不惜过着最简朴的生活,也要为更穷苦的家庭提供一点温暖。除了悲悯生者,更不忌讳禁忌,从西贡河上打捞不知名的浮尸,为其举行葬礼,只盼能给往生者最后一丝尊严。
A Vietnamese saying goes: complete leaves have a responsibility to protect the broken leaves. A group of low-income people in Ho Chi Minh City lead simple lives so as to provide warmth to poorer families.They also salvage unidentified corpses in the Sai Kung River, giving them a final touch of dignity.
Episode 10- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
老有所依,老有所养,是自古以来华人社会所追求的一大理想。然而,在现代社会,却有很多孤独老人蜗居空巢,更有老人被遗弃在医院的病榻上,任生命凋零。在马来西亚,有一群秉持“老吾老以及人之老”理念的 “社区英雄”,义不容辞,坚持好好守护孤苦无依的老人家。
Everyone wishes to be taken care of in old age. Still, many lonely old people continue to live alone, some awaiting deaths on hospital beds. In Malaysia, a group of community heroes go above and beyond to help these elderly in need.
